Doris Bäsler

Doris is an experienced non-governmental practitioner who has worked with various large and complex organizations across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Her expertise spans over 20 years in the sector, both at the country and international secretariat levels, focusing on value-driven approaches to helping organizations be relevant, resilient, and impactful.

Doris has extensive experience designing, facilitating, and reviewing ambitious organizational change processes, applying transformative scenario thinking and intersectional feminist approaches. Within and beyond organizations, she enables spaces for rethinking organizational and network development by acknowledging and engaging with diverse needs and perspectives.

In her last role with Oxfam International, Doris co-led a participatory global strategy process that recognized that ‘how’ Oxfam was showing up was as important as the issues it was working on and which committed the organization to an intersectional feminist approach to transformative systems change. She also co-led a global governance review that intentionally addressed formal and informal power imbalances, established a multi-stakeholder global Assembly, and reformed an international Board designed to reflect the worldwide organisation’s values, vision and diversity.

Throughout her career, Doris has collaborated closely with global governing bodies, national executive directors, and people and partners from across worldwide networks. She is now working as an independent consultant and professional mediator based in Berlin, Germany. In her free time, Doris volunteers as a teacher of German as a Foreign Language.
