Máire Brophy

Dr Máire Brophy is an independent research development and training expert, with particular expertise in European research funding. Máire works with researchers, research groups and universities to support the development and planning of research and research funding. She was previously Director of Development, Research and Evaluation at the Centre for Effective Services, Dean of Graduate Studies and Research at the Technological University of the Shannon and Strategy Lead for Research Development at the ADAPT Centre in Trinity College Dublin.

Máire has a PhD in International Political Theory from University College Dublin and has worked across many disciplinary areas, but particularly in Social Sciences, Computer Science, Engineering, and Environmental Science. She is also interested in interdisciplinary research and developing the social and policy impacts of research. In addition to working with universities, she has also worked with government departments, agencies and NGOs to support and develop appropriate research projects. Máire is involved with several organisations that help researchers and scholars who are displaced by conflict or political violence, and was an Ambassador for the SRF Alliance. In 2020 she was awarded a Research Excellence Award from Trinity College under the category of fostering and growing research talent, specifically for her work with underrepresented groups.
